Pre - Primary

Our Pre-Primary setting provides pupil-centred, therapeutically informed teaching and learning experiences,  in a bespoke nurturing environment. Built within an idyllic walled garden, our pre-primary unit combines  purpose built facilities, high quality resources and an extensive natural outdoor environment in which enable pupils to play, learn, enjoy and thrive.

Our Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) curriculum is underpinned by core values which champion the need to attend to the wellbeing of our pupils first. The curriculum enables pupils to socialise, communicate, collaborate and manage their relationships positively. This in turn will enable pupils to develop the skills necessary to learn; resilience, relationships, risk taking, resourcefulness and reflection.

These essential foundations enable our children to overcome barriers, which may be present as a result of suffering developmental trauma, adverse childhood experiences or other factors, and empower them to access the National Curriculum through topics and themes interweaved with our curriculum.

Muntham House School Pre-Primary is committed to ensuring our vulnerable pupils enjoy early experiences of being positively included in a therapeutically informed educational setting which recognises their individual strengths and differences and can accommodate and celebrate pupils social, emotional and academic development.

We have combined our years of experience, knowledge and consultation with experts in the field of education, mental health and wellbeing to create a bespoke curriculum and assessment framework which we truly believe reflects the needs of our vulnerable pupils and will ensure we are able to offer them life changing opportunities and outcomes.

Autumn:    Home is Where We Start from; Traditional Tales, Disney Heroes.
Spring:       Habitats that Hold us; Ice Worlds, Commotion in the Ocean.
Summer:   What a wonderful World; Out of Africa, To Infinity and beyond.

Alterative provision & Interventions

Forest Schools, Kite Workshops, Arts Council drama, music and spoken word projects, Music, Art and Media, Cooking, Gardening, Pond Dipping, working with animals and nature in our extensive grounds and local farms and sanctuaries, Zones of regulation, Nurture groups, Circle Time, Circle of Friends, Sensory circuits, Attention Autism, Occupational Therapy, Theraplay,  Mindfulness, Phonics and Handwriting programmes, Narrative Therapy, Accelerated Reader programmes and Numeracy support.

Therapies

Canine Therapy, Equine Therapy, Lego Therapy, Music Therapy, Speech, Language and Communication Therapy, Attachment DDP Informed Practice, Drama Psychotherapy and Counselling.
