Blossom, (Burmese Mountain dog), Omah (Labrador) and Buzz, (Terrier) are our Pets as Therapy Dogs. They have been assessed and insured to work with our pupils. When working with Blossom and Buzz the pupils become less stressed, less self-conscious and more confident, as dogs are non-judgmental.
The pupils look forward to reading and working with their new friend, the PAT Dog. The pupils enjoy weekly visits from Blossom, Omah and Buzz. PAT Dogs like Blossom, Omah and Buzz provide comfort, encourage positive social behaviors, enhance self-esteem, motivate speech, give emotional regulation during meetings and inspire young people to have fun. Louise and Libby (Muntham House School Staff) remain in charge of the sessions at all times. The pupils are selected by their teachers as those who would benefit most from this intervention; normally pupils who lack confidence, have difficulty with reading or have an attention deficit.
