Arundel Floor

Arundel floor is a nurturing environment, for pupils from Year 9 to Year 11, where pupils begin to discover themselves further and become more independent in preparation for either Further Education or mainstream society.

The accommodation consists of a large common room, a fully fitted kitchen/dining area. 6 Double Rooms and 4 Single Rooms. Arundel staff and the pupils work as a community, working together to help each other achieve their full potential. This is seen through the work we do to create independence. The pupils learn how to budget for meals and outings, learn how to wash their own clothes and cook several healthy meals for themselves and others. This is so that the pupils can become independent in their preparations for college and leaving school. The key workers are supportive along every step of the way, helping apply for colleges, studying for exams and producing different challenges to help them prepare for future living.

The Leisure Curriculum

All our activities are geared towards aiding our pupils to gain success in building relationships, confidence and social/independence skills as well as using their time constructively and having fun.

Activities include swimming, biking, football and cooking club to name but a few. We also have extensive grounds which include a sports hall, playing fields, fishing pond, bike track and wooded areas for adventure play.

The leisure curriculum also focuses heavily on independence skills and appropriate behaviour. The floor has daily routines which have to be followed and firm behavioural boundaries. The school challenges anti-social behaviour which is not tolerated within our community.

The Staff Team

There are 3 staff working at any one time. The staff are here to advocate for the pupils, to liaise closely with parents/carers, and any external agencies to ensure the individual needs of the pupils are met.

We provide a safe and caring environment, by modelling good behaviour and forging positive and transparent relationships working on the social and emotional challenges which our pupils may encounter.
