Support and Pupil Wellbeing
Our Comittment
At Muntham House School, we are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every pupil receives individualised support to succeed. Through small class sizes, high staff-to-pupil ratios, and a wide range of intervention and therapeutic services, we ensure that every pupil has access to the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Class Sizes & Staff Support
- All classes operate with a maximum of 10 pupils to ensure personalised attention and effective learning.
- We maintain a staff-to-pupil ratio of 1:5, providing tailored support to meet individual needs.
- All staff are certified in Understanding Autism, ensuring they can adapt teaching approaches to support autistic learners effectively.
- Muntham House School is a recognised Trauma Informed School, with staff qualified in Trauma Informed Practice, equipping them to support pupils who have experienced trauma.
- Each day begins and ends with a tutor period, where pupils are in groups of no more than 8, supported by a team of three tutors providing emotional, academic, and pastoral support.
In-Class Support
- One-on-one support is available for pupils with specific learning needs, ensuring a tailored approach.
- Differentiated learning approaches are implemented to accommodate a range of abilities and learning styles.
- Assistive technology is used to improve access to learning, including text-to-speech software, visual aids, and alternative communication tools.
- Alternative assessment methods are offered to provide pupils with multiple ways to demonstrate their understanding and skills.
Out-of-Class Support & Interventions
- A dedicated pastoral team is available to offer 1:1 withdrawal support and interventions throughout the school day.
- Literacy and numeracy interventionists provide 1:1 targeted interventions, ensuring pupils develop core academic skills at their own pace.
- Targeted emotional regulation sessions are available, including:
- Anger management programmes
- Social communication coaching
- Workshops on study skills and organisational support help pupils develop independent learning strategies.
- Social and communication skills groups support pupils in building relationships, developing confidence, and navigating social interactions.
