Outdoor Education

Outdoor Education will make a difference to pupil’s lives and futures at Muntham House School.

Now, more than ever, the benefits of Outdoor Education to young people’s mental health, resilience and wellbeing are essential both to themselves and society.  Pupils will develop self-confidence and raise their self-esteem through participating and succeeding in our programme of Outdoor Education.

We offer a challenging, fun programme of safe Outdoor Education. Pupils experience new skills and activities, and to learn that they are capable of far more than they thought possible. Activities include:

  • Mountain Biking
  • Rock Climbing
  • Abseiling
  • Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP)
  • Canoeing and Kayaking
  • Sea Swimming
  • Archery
  • Team Building Activities and Problem Solving
  • Raft Building
  • Adventure Walks/Hill Walks
  • High and Low Ropes Courses

All of our activities are fully risk assessed in line with national best practice. The programme is planned by our experienced teacher of Outdoor Education to facilitate opportunities for self discovery, learning about and connecting to the natural world, and engaging with the environment and adventurous activities, and of course having fun.

The benefits of challenging and engaging experiences in the outdoors are extremely well researched and recognised. At Muntham House School we aim to promote a lifelong engagement with the outdoors for mental and physical health, well-being and a connection with nature.

"There is more to us than we know. If we can be made to see it, perhaps for the rest of our lives we will be unwilling to settle for less."
